“But the RS scratches the sport-touring bike itch in a way that the RT and (even the new) GS just can’t. This isn’t a matter of which one is faster or which one is better. This is a matter of feel—how connected I feel to the bike and to the moment. That kinesthetic high that I spoke of earlier is feeling connected to the front contact patch. That kinesthetic high is pressing the outside knee into the tank while the inside knee searches for the apex, shifting weight on the saddle and footpegs, pushing on the inside clipon, and feeling the bike respond. It’s an echo of a now-distant time when my life was simpler and my desires definitive—to ride well, to ride far, and to ride quickly. The RS makes me feel twenty years younger.”

While I was photographing the bike, this curious doggo came over to inspect the bike. I should have submitted this photo for publication!
